APPLY
Apply today to become a delegate to the AYEA Civics & Conservation Summit! Each March, AYEA youth delegates gather at our state capitol in Juneau. During the 5 day summit, delegates gain skills in communication, advocacy, and civic engagement! Together, they learn the 101’s of Alaska’s State Legislature, study focus bills, and meet with their elected officials to advocate for the issues they care most about.
Any young Alaskan 13-18 years old is welcome and encouraged to apply. We will accept up to twenty delegates from both rural and urban communities. There are no GPA requirements & prior experience is not required . The application can take approximately one hour to complete.
You can expect to hear from AYEA staff regarding your application status in the week following the application deadline.
We are so excited to have new delegates for our Civics & Conservation Summit! There are responsibilities that all delegates will hold regardless of the year, changes in landscape, or events of the summit. We recommend all applicants review these sets of delegate responsibilities>>
NOMINATE
Nominate a delegate to the AYEA Civics & Conservation Summit! Adult supporters like you play a key role in developing and activating the next generation of Alaskan leaders. With your nomination, a young person from your community can gain the skills, network, and confidence to make a difference.
Any young Alaskan 13-18 years old is welcome and encouraged to apply. We will accept up to 20 delegates from both rural and urban communities. Prior experience is not required and there are no GPA requirements. The nomination form should take approximately thirty minutes to complete. We ask that you notify your nominee of your nomination and encourage them to fill out the delegate application.
Nominees will be offered a one-on-one meeting with AYEA staff, one week before the application deadline to identify their interest & support application questions.
bECOME A TRAINER
Apply today to Join the Training team! Becoming a part of the training team is an excellent and effective way to share what you’ve learned about civics and conservation with our next delegate cohort. Each summit we look forward to having three adult trainers and four youth peer trainers on our team to support our new AYEA teens.
There are a number of training team responsibilities that we depend on from our trainers to host a successful and fun summit. Check them out here>>
As a part of the application process we ask you to identify which workshops you’d like to lead. Check out our workshop outlines on our partners & trainers page to see more in-depth information on our facilitation guides.
