Whether you’re giving appreciated stock, making a gift from your IRA, or recommending a grant from your donor-advised fund, these options can help you make the most of your charitable giving.

Save on taxes while making a bigger impact.
Donating appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual funds can be one of the most tax-efficient ways to give. By donating securities you’ve held for more than one year, you may be able to:

  • Avoid paying capital gains tax on the appreciated value
  • Receive a charitable income tax deduction for the fair market value of your gift (if you itemize deductions)

If you are considering a gift of stock, please contact Alison Lum, Development Director, at alison@akcenter.org before initiating the transfer.

If you are age 70½ or older, you may be eligible to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to The Alaska Center Education Fund.
For individuals age 73 and older who are required to take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), a QCD is a simple way to satisfy all or part of that requirement.
A QCD may help reduce your taxable income while supporting The Alaska Center Education Fund!

If you have a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF), you can recommend a grant to The Alaska Center Education Fund at any time. DAF grants are a convenient, tax-smart way to support our mission and help create lasting change in Alaska.

Include The Alaska Center Education Fund in your will, trust, or beneficiary designations to help us educate and engage Alaskans of all ages to support clean air and water, build healthy and resilient communities, and become empowered stewards.
Planned gifts can be made in many ways and allow you to leave a lasting impact while supporting the programs and causes you care about.
