Lights, Camera, Environmental Action!

At the 2025 Alaska Youth for Environmental Action (AYEA) Youth Organizer Summit, 25 young leaders from across Alaska gathered to explore Climate and Storytelling, learning how to share their personal connections to the lands and waters they love through film. Guided by our partners at See Stories and Native Movement, each youth created a short film that highlights the beauty of their home communities, the urgency of climate change, and the power of young voices to inspire action and hope.

Teens worked on their storytelling throughout the winter and held a community film screening in Juneau during their Civics and Conservation Summit in March. The film screening showcased a statewide film, new films from teens Lupine, Mazelle, Zoë, and the Mt. Edgecumbe High School Recycling Club, and the short films from Brennen, Izaiah, and Grace.

Now, AYEA is continuing film workshops across the state, with the most recent one happening in Brevig Mission.
