This year’s theme, Power in Our Hands, reflects a simple truth: real change happens when people come together and choose to act. Across Alaska, decisions about our environment, energy future, and democracy are being made right now — and our communities deserve a strong voice in shaping what comes next.
This event is an opportunity to gather, celebrate our progress, and energize the work ahead. We’ll hear from community leaders, share a meal, enjoy live music, and participate in a live and silent auction that supports The Alaska Center’s work to advance clean energy, strengthen climate resilience, and protect our democracy.
Your support also sustains Trailside Discovery Camp and Alaska Youth for Environmental Action (AYEA), programs of The Alaska Center Education Fund that connect youth to Alaska’s natural world and build the next generation of community leaders.

⭐ Live Entertainment by Sazón
Sazón is an Anchorage-based funk and neo-soul band known for high-energy grooves, soulful vocals, and a dynamic live sound. Blending funk, R&B, and soul with saxophone-driven rhythms, they bring bold flavor, feel-good vibes, and a dance-worthy soundtrack to our evening.

Peg Tileston was raised on a farm in Indiana, graduated from Earlham College in 1954 with a double major in Physical Education/Recreation and Political Science and taught in various secondary schools. She moved to Alaska in 1972 when her husband, Jules, was assigned to do the wild & scenic rivers studies for the Dept. of Interior that were ultimately included in the Alaska National Interest Conservation Act (ANICA).
Shortly after arriving in Anchorage, Peg started volunteering at the Alaska Center for the Environment (ACE). The Center was completely staffed by volunteers until 1978 when the first executive director was hired.
She served on the Center board for a number of years ultimately helping to restructure the organization to its current format. During that time period ACE was involved in many accomplishments, including the Campbell Creek Green Belt and the Coastal Trail designation, the establishment of a Recycling Center, passage of the Billboard ban by the legislature, and work to pass ANILCA, to name just a few.
Most of her time has been focused on organizational development and serving on various boards. Besides helping to reorganize ACE with Helen Nienhauser, Lanie Fleisher, Sharon Cissna and Odette Foster in 1974, Peg help establish the Alaska Conservation Foundation, co-found Trustees for Alaska and Alaska Common Ground, a public policy organization.
She served on the national Sierra Club Board, Alaska Water Board and the Chugach Electric Association Board along with various state and local commissions.
In 1999 she started distributing What’s Up, a weekly calendar of events, deadlines and job opportunities occurring in the state that currently has over 2600 email recipients, mostly in Alaska.
Peg has received the YWCA Women of Achievement, Award, Alaska Women’s Hall of Fame recognition, Alaska Conservation Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award, and an Honorary Doctorate Degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage.
She is the proud wife of Jules, mother of three daughters, Nancy, Anna, and Gloria and two granddaughters, Erin and Emily.
