Meet The 2021 Youth Organizer Summit

2021 Youth Organizers

Donovan L.
Steller Secondary School

I moved to Alaska in 2015. I was born in Washington and grew up camping, mountain biking, and hiking. I work for an outdoor education program as a youth guide in Anchorage. I hope to contribute by collaborating with other youth around issues of habitat protection and I would like to take away with new resources that can help me with outdoor education.

Nora S
Kodiak High School

I am sixteen and live in Kodiak! I love to go hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter. I also go fishing and camping. I am hoping to contribute another perspective and different ideas to the summit, coming from a town that might not be as represented. I am hoping to take away tools and a network of people/ fellow students to learn from and also knowledge about how to create an environmental club at my school!

Lillian L.
Mirror Lake Middle School

I have two cats and I like books. I have been a student ambassador for two years, and last summer I became a member of the Anchorage Youth Court. I am hoping to bring my energy and passion to these issues and gain more knowledge and ability to help the local and state campaigns.

Gloria S.
Career & Technical High School

My name is Gloria, and I am 17. I am a member of No More MatSu, and I also play the alto saxophone in my school's band. I teach swimming lesson and lifeguard at the Alaska Club and YMCA. I want to be able to make a difference even if it's small. In this world there is a lot of hate and dark but I want to try to find a window to open and try and let the light shine through!

Sage M.
Port Alexander K-12

I am a freshman in high school. I like to read about everything and I also like to play chess (even if I am not very good at it). And I am concerned about the future of the Earth. I am hoping to use my unique perspective to help support environmental and climate action.

Mia C.
Cordova Jr/Sr High School

Hi! My name is Mia and I grew up in the Yup’ik community of Bethel. Now I live in Cordova (Eyak land), where I spend most of my time outside—hiking, tide pooling, kayaking, and backpacking. As someone with a passion for environmental science and advocacy, I look forward to collaborating with you all!

K'Cyee T.
Bettye Davis East Anchorage High School

Hi, my name is K’Cyee Toma and I am 17 years old. I am a Senior at Bettye Davis East Anchorage High School and I really enjoy playing volleyball. My favorite color is blue and my favorite food to eat would be burgers and fries. I love pets, being active, and in the future, I hope to become a lawyer. I hope to take away new knowledge of things I’ve never learned before or heard from others and be more outspoken about issues going on in Alaska overall. I hope to be inspired and be motivated to get out of my comfort zone to do more that I know I can.
